| Risks factors for potential addiction among cancer survivors who use medical marijuana

Preparations of marijuana are frequently used by cancer patients. In Israel, marijuana is being given to cancer patients following their oncologist's request. However, marijuana use can lead to addiction.In a previous study we found higher dose of marijuana were found an increased risk for addiction among cancer patients who are in the lower socioeconomic status and current smokers. The current follow-up study, is aimed to assess risk factors for long term addiction among cancer survivors.
All cancer patients who recieved marijuana prescriptions since 08/2013 at the Hadassah - Hebrew University Medical Center will be included in the study cohort. The association between higher dose of marijuana’s prescriptions and demographic data, socioeconomic status and smoking status will be assessed using adjusted models. in addition, blood sampling for further analysis is planned.
