
Research Interest: Dr. Or Shemesh develops molecular and neuroengineering technologies to understand and treat brain diseases. His research focuses on uncovering infectious drivers of neurodegeneration and building next-generation therapeutic platforms for neurological disorders and brain cancers. His laboratory integrates cell-type–specific gene therapy, RNA-based therapeutics, genetic nanotechnology, and in vivo neural imaging to probe brain pathology and develop targeted interventions. By combining bio–nano interfaces with advanced imaging and genetic tools, his group aims to reveal previously unrecognized mechanisms of brain disease and translate these discoveries into novel diagnostics and therapies.
